This Is Horror Awards 2023: Public Nominations Are Open | Jason Pargin returns to the podcast

Hey, friends!

I hope this email finds you well and you're having a great day. There's a lot going on in This Is Horror land.

The first thing you should check out is the public nominations for the This Is Horror Awards 2023. You have until to submit your nominations. Then, later this year, we'll be announcing the shortlist for both the 2022 and 2023 This Is Horror Awards in a double extravaganza. The truth is, as some of you know, my life has been very chaotic these past few years, 2020–2022 were probably the worst years of my life, but I'm rebuilding and catching-up with so many neglected things, hence the double-dose of This Is Horror Awards celebrating the golden age of horror fiction we're living in.

In the last few This Is Horror newsletters, I gave away codes for House of Bad Memories in audiobook format. Every code was claimed apart from this one: https://authors-direct.com/spotify/?code=SPOT-01HC-ZWDN-VE27-K167-A2MJ-2WYQJB

So, grab it quick if you want to listen for free.

When you're done, I'd love for you to review House of Bad Memories here. I'm only a few ratings away from 50 which isn't very much but I'm happy that most of my readers are connecting with it. It's not sold that well but those who have read it seem to be very happy. Is this better than selling very well but getting a lukewarm response? My artistic side says yes, but my bank balance and publisher might disagree!

As long-term This Is Horror Podcast fans will know, we also have a This Is Horror YouTube (please subscribe). We don't always put the episodes up at the same time as the audio presentation but slowly but surely we're adding episodes from the archive. We put up the two-hour-plus conversation with Jason Pargin a few days ago.

Well, that about does it for another week. Don't forget to check out what’s been going on in This Is Horror world below.

If you want to see other newsletters I recommend, you can follow this link.

But until next time, have a great day, friends.

Michael David Wilson

I was speaking with a friend recently who said they were working for hours on end every day and still felt like they didn’t have time for everything. It’s a common concern and one I empathise with a great deal. It was over ten years ago when I realised I would never do everything I wanted to in a day. I was doing these insane workdays, staying up almost all night in this desperate attempt to get my to-do list finished. The do-list included writing tasks, This Is Horror tasks, podcast tasks,...
